Viability/24 weeks

Here at 1am. I'm having some trouble sleeping tonight. Little Man is transverse (sideways) and making me pretty uncomfortable, so I'm watching Dave Ramsey on the good ole DVR and reading about cloth diapering.

I realized that today (October 1st), Jackson is viable! At 24 weeks gestation, if you go into labor and it can't be stopped, they will perform lifesaving measures for your baby. If Jackson were born today, he'd have about a 40% chance of survival. I can't BELIEVE that I'm that pregnant! He weighs about a pound and he's starting to tear up my insides...I can definately tell he is running out of room in my teeny baby bump! I'm sure that my belly is going to start growing rapidly now.

Keelin LOVES feeling him kick. I told her that he was giving her high fives (I think it sounds more pleasant than telling her that her brother is kicking her...haha) and she squeals that she loves him every time he gives her a high five. It's BEYOND adorable.

I'm so sleepy, but I'm too uncomfortable to lay down. If I had any energy, I'd work on my handmade holiday cards. If I keep putting it off, I'll have to get some from a store and they won't be NEAR as good as mine. That would suck.

Okay, I'm done rambling, but I thought it was pretty cool that I'm officially 24 weeks pregnant today and Jackson is viable! Neat!

Hot Wing Pizza

Ultimate California Pizza in Myrtle Beach, SC makes the most amazing pizza. It's made with hot sauce, mozzarella cheese, celery, chicken, and I think that's it. HOLY COW, it's so good. Hot wings and pizza- it doesn't get better!

Anyway, I tried to make it myself tonight! I definately should have used white flour for the dough- the whole wheat just didn't taste right, but other than that, it was awesome! Keelin has had it at the beach before and loves hot sauce, so she ate it with me. She said, "Mommy, this is my FAVORITE!" I don't know if it was that or my heartburn that brought tears to my eyes (hahaha) but there ya have it!

I noticed today that my butt is getting big. I know some guys and gals think that "booties" are hot, but I much prefer my small butt to any gigantamongous hiney floating around out there. My poor rear is just getting big. Happened with Keelin, so I expected it, but I was hoping that I'd not get a big ole booty while I was pregnant with Jackson. Blah.

Sorry if I offend any of you that have big butts, but I don't want one. Ew.

Fun

Keelin and I went to a triple coupon sale at Harris Teeter today. I did pretty well! Got 3 carts of groceries for $82... I'm a pretty savvy shopper on a regular basis, but the deals were exceptional. I can't wait to get cooking!

I made a DELICIOUS lamb stew tonight, but I modified it a bit. It seemed like it would be a bit heavier than Keelin would enjoy (she's definately a foody-baby but it's only her 3rd or 4th time having lamb and it does have a very different taste), so I lightened it up a bit. I love watching Keelin eat new foods- she devours shellfish, enjoyed alligator, LOVES duck, likes lamb...I know that she'd choose "nuggies and french fries" over anything she ever eats, but it still does my heart good to see my baby girl enjoying mediterranean food on a regular basis, that she loves traditional cooking- and that she is always willing to taste something! I wish Tim was home to enjoy my kitchen experimentation! I'm sure I'll be fat and tired by the time he gets home and will resort to ordering pizza instead of making it, like I do now. haha

22weeks and 2days pregnant...Not too big, yet! 10lbs gained, he's growing well and already weighs 13oz. Oh, and he has really big feet! Dunno where those came from! Neither of us have really big feet!

Watching Dave Ramsey discuss mortgages, trying to learn- I've been just randomly browsing houses online here recently and have found a few that I've just loved, so I'm just trying to learn everything I can about buying homes and such as that. I love being a nerd!

21 weeks down, 19 to go

Didn't I just find out I was pregnant yesterday? Am I really this pregnant? haha

I know he's getting bigger, because my clothes are getting tighter! He's doing jumping jacks in there, but I still don't feel this far along! I hear it's that way with second babies, that you're so busy with life and your firstborn that the pregnancy goes by pretty quickly. I guess that's what might be happening!

We're ready for him...even have a double stroller! Call us prepared! Keelin has LOVED the baby shopping. She loves to pick out clothes for him. She actually picked out his bedding set! That girl definately has taste, I must say, but she doesn't quite understand that Jackson might not want an Ariel room, so we went with her second choice- a pale blue and yellow moon/star themed set. Lovely!

I got in touch with my favorite photographer today! If anyone remembers a little over a year ago, a friend of mine photographed Keelin and did an AMAZING job! Well, her business is absolutely booming (she's AMAZING, like I said!) and I was a little concerned that she might book up for the fall, so I emailed her and she agreed to do my maternity photos! I'm a sucker for a stunning photograph. I'm just beyond thrilled! She has endless talent AND I consider her a dear friend, which is just going to make the experience that much better. She seems excited to be working with us again (probably because I'm not into traditional "hands on the belly,b&w,studio" maternity photos) and I'm looking forward to having what will probably be my last pregnancy captured in a way that only Andrea seems to be able to do for our family.

Andrea, I'm so excited to see you and work with you! Let the brainstorming begin!

Icky

I've been feeling "off" today. Not sick, but like I could get that way. Aches, chills, tired...I'm taking some extra vitamin C and drinking a lot of water. Hoping I can fight off whatever it is. Blech!

I'm going to go eat some of my fabulous milk chocolate and toffee cookies. I think that will pretty much cure what ails ya!

Today is one of those days when I really, really, REALLY wish Tim was here. I miss him every day, but some days are just worth mentioning and this is one of them. I got upset today on the phone with him and when we hung up, Keelin had gone to get her globe. I bought her a globe when Tim left so that I could show her where he was and where we were. It seems to help. When she asks where Tim is, I tell her he's working and asks if she knows where he's working. She brings me her globe and shows me South America. Today when I was definately feeling down, my 2-year old brought me her little globe and said, "Mommy, Tim is at work. He'll be back soon. See?"

Rain, Pt.2

The joy (not) of living in the sandhills...No rain puddles! The sand just sucks up the water and there really is no mud. Good for the carpet, bad when you want to jump in a puddle with your 2-year old.
Howling wind and pouring rain, but no puddles after. There is no justice in the world.

Tonight, I made different colored koolaids and then froze different colored koolaid ice cubes. I read the idea in one of my mom magazines and can't wait to see if it looks as cool as it did in the picture. Yay for trying new things?

My poor back. I think I need a heating pad. Yikes.

Rain

We're getting poured on. It's great! The rain sounds amazing and it's SO unbelievable cool outside. Feels so nice!

Being 2.5hrs inland is perfect during a Cat.1 hurricane- wind, lots of rain...Everything feels so clean and new when it's over. I love it!

Keelin won't be thrilled about all of the time inside, but when the rain stops, we'll definately have to go outside and take advantage of the massive puddles! Hurray!

Oh, my aching back!

20 weeks and 1 day pregnant. My back is SO sore. My doctor thinks that Jackson is putting pressure on a nerve in my back (known and dreaded by pregnant women as sciatica) that is causing pain in my lower back and through my left hip and leg.

I feel like I'm going to gag every time I bend over! That's when it hurts the most. Particularly when I want something out of the fridge...How unfair for a preggo?! ahaha

Luckily for me, Keelin has been really sweet today. She's been cuddling with me on the couch, helping me stir something in the kitchen, picking up her toys...it's been awesome! She's a better baby than 99% of the preschool population on a regular basis, but today she was just an angel. My back thanks her profusely!

Dinner tonight is going to be pizza. It's already almost 4pm (K is snoozing beside me on the couch- I went to get her a cup of water and when I came back, she was zonked!), so I need to get a move on with starting my dough, so I can wake her up in a sec. I have bacon and a fresh pineapple, so that will probably get tossed onto the pizza!

I'm definately going to bake a peach pie tonight! I have a TON of organic peaches that I got from this awesome local farmer. His produce is HUGE and perfect, but with no genetic engineering or pesticides. We all know how I feel about that mess! Blech.

Okay, as always, the pregnant brain turns to food. :)

In the beginning...

Who will read my blog? That is the question!

The good thing about my life is that I have absolutely nothing to hide.
I have a great relationship with my spouse, I'm a devoted mother, and I'm super close to my family.

If you knew me B.K (before Keelin), then you might wonder what I'm up to these days.
If I'm the same.
If I'm even remotely the same person.
Frankly, I'm not.

These are the ramblings of Dusti. A stay at home mom. A wife. A military spouse. A college student. A lover of free samples. Subscriber to 5 different magazines. Drinker of Starbuck's caramel macchiatos. Dyer of sheets. Chex Mix enthusiast!

Think of me what you will.
